About

Hominin.net is a database of hominin fossils, all the metadata related to each specimen, and bibliographic information such as authors and references. The database is open access and the code behind was written using the open source language, Python and the framework, Django. The site makes heavy usage of Google tools, such as the maps, AJAX, and Friend Connect APIs.

Known Bugs

Images in Internet Explorer 7 do not float over map even though map z-index is -1 and images set to float right
Jump links to eras in Timeline do not work
Authors are sometimes not organized in the order as they appear in the publication
